About the film
Seventeen-year-old Ainara (played by Blanca Soroa in her debut) is an idealistic young woman who lost her mother early in life. Raised in a religious family, she attends a Christian school, but while everyone expects her to go to university, she feels drawn to life as a contemplative nun. Her announcement divides those around her: her father is unsure but supportive, while her atheist aunt Maite fears she is throwing her life away.
Spanish director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa's ‘Los Domingos’ explores both the appeal and the cost of Ainara's calling, raising questions about tolerance, indoctrination, and personal freedom along the way.
