About the film
Italian President Mariano De Santis (Toni Servillo) is a widower, a devout Catholic, and father to Dorotea, who, like him, is a lawyer. He spends the final days of his term in the vast presidential palace, with hip-hop music as his closest companion. He faces a few momentous decisions, including the implementation of a law permitting euthanasia, against the Pope’s wishes. In unexpected ways, these weighty issues become entangled with his private life. Yet, despite his doubts, he must make choices that will define his legacy to his beloved Italy. ‘La Grazia’, the latest film by writer-director Paolo Sorrentino, is a love story starring Toni Servillo (‘La Grande Bellezza’), who won the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival for this role.
